Not training multiple times a day at the moment or anything, my body burnt itself out after the IKF lol, its all good, happens to everyone. Right now im trying to DL a torrent of Windows Vista Ultimate, been researching and finding reason to stand behind PC's over Mac's lol, since I got rejected twice by mac when I applied to their store ;(!! Its late, I have class mad early, night night peeps!

Getting some much deserved rest.

For this past week I have just been resting my body and letting injuries heal and old wounds heal as well. I got ringworm from some dirty gear at the IKF. I have been taking care of that for a week with just antibiotics. It wasn't healing as quick, so I bought some anti-fungal cream for it.. So hopefully I have a speedier recovery.. Its late.. I may train tomorrow, if I do, I have to wrap up the area where I have ringworm like crazy. Night night peeps!

IKF World Classic Day 3

So I wake up in the morning and im super pumped and motivated to win this whole tournament. Take my shower, head downstairs with my bro and the convention center hasn't been opened yet. So all the fighters, and their coaches are sitting around waiting. Me and Kevin wrap up and start warming up right away, because we know that me and Kevin are the first 5 fights or so in the morning. JP comes and we eat a quarter of a bagel and continue warming up and cooling down. Im the first one up out of me and my bro, my whole team is watching and cheering me on. The person im fighting for my second fight is this guy who has beaten 2 people from my team already, so there was a lotttt of pressure on me to really beat this guy decisively, he won the tournament the year before, Asa Ten Pow, tough guy. His style is real tricky, its suited for san shou, a lot of baiting and back peddling, mad annoying style that makes other people just look bad. So when in the first round I kept stalking him, I tried not to chase him to much, I didn't want to walk into a sidekick or something, I stalked him and engaged whenever I could, he would keep back peddling, then explode in with some combinations and back out again. I wasn't sure if I won that first round or not. in the second round the gameplan was to work the kicks to the legs, so I did what I did before, just stalk him and beat him legs and engage with my hands whenever I could. I am pretty positive that I won that 2nd round, the third round comes around and its more of the same but since it was the third round I just kept mad pressure on him, and crowded him a lil more rather than stalking, it worked out really well and I got the decision. It was a huge victory for us all, I gave the guy his 1st loss, so thats always good ^^! My bro Kevin had to go literally right after I won my fight against Asa, so I ran to Kevin's corner for his semi-final fight. Kevin was fighting this big as fuck traditional muay thai fighter that I hear people call "Hercules". His record was like 17-1, we weren't sure what to expect. The original game plan was to work the boxing and stay out of the clinch. The 1st round starts off and right in the 1st minute of the round we notice that Kevin's really landing leg kicks solid on him, there weren't to many exchanges with the hands in the 1st round, but the leg kicks won that round for Kevin. We tell him to keep working the leg kicks in the 2nd round and try to open up a little more with the hands. The round starts off and Kevin and this guy start landing big leg kicks on each other, Kevin starts opening up with the hands more and he's landing well with the hands, whenever they would clinch, Kevin would get the body lock and start kneeing the thighs and try to work for a take down from the body lock. Were pretty sure that second round went to Kevin, the third round we were saying that the game plan is working and to work the boxing some more. In the third round it was more of the same, this one point in the middle of the round that really put a stamp on Kevin taking the fight was after an exchange Kevin chilled on the ropes for a second to almost pretend that he was hurt, as the guy was coming at him, he bounced off the ropes and push kicked the guy right in the chest and knocked him off balance that he had to catch himself on the ropes, and as he caught himself, Kevin ran in and body locked him and got a sick slap from the body lock. It was another huge win for us, especially since according to the guys resume, he was suppostu beat him everytime. Me and Kevin have a few hours until our next fight, so were resting our bodies for a few hours by laying down with sheets over our bodies to try and stay warm, the facility was ridiculously cold. My next fight is a semi-final fight and Kevin's next fight is a title fight. When its 30 mins or so before my 3rd fight, I start warming up and cooling down again , my body is starting to feel broken down a little though, these tournaments really break you down. Its getting close to fight time, I find out im fighting this big as fuck black guy. I know right away that he is going to be uber explosive in the opening phases of the fight, JP keeps telling me to use my kicks more, keeps telling me that my kicks are really good, so its ingrained in my head to try and set up the kicks more. I walk in the ring and tap gloves with the guy, his name was Andre. So round 1 starts, im throwing so combinations but hes landing some nice combinations on me, but my hands are up pretty tight and I keep answering back and throwing some leg kicks at the end of the exchanges, the round is pretty even, maybe slightly in Andre's favor, im landing solid leg kicks and after one exchange I land a solid head kick and I drop Andre clean to the canvas. So he got an 8 count, that sealed the round for me. I go back to my corner and JP is just telling me, "I fucking told you!" , and just wanted me to start working the kicks to the body to break him down. The round starts and Andre comes out strong, cause im sure he knows I won that round because of the knockdown, I stick out stiff jabs and crosses and end all my combinations with kicks to the legs, body, and the head. I totally found my tempo in these last two rounds, I felt like I broke him in those last two rounds. The body kicks tired him out I could tell, so I just started throwing em out balls out. In the third round I kept drilling the body and landed another nice head kick that dropped him once again, so I knew that drop put me way ahead on the scorecards, I start throwing balls out head kicks and combinations, but I start getting tagged with wild punches. Its getting close to the end of round, so I tighten up my guard and work some more until the end of the round. I won the fight and now im in the finals to fight for the title, my body is completely drained, I sustained the most damage in that fight, my eye was puffed up and my nose was busted as well. Kevin was cornering me like crazy in this fight and his voice was basically gone after that fight, and he had to fight for the title righttt after my fight once again, so I ran to his corner completely dead. Kevins trying to get all into it and ready to fight and stuff but right away you could tell he wasn't himself, when Kevin beat "hercules", he became the favorite to win the whole tournament. The person he was fighting was a former IKF Champ, explosive, athletic guy. The fight starts off and its pretty even, you could tell right away that kevins having a hard time with Colbertson's strength, he wasn't able to maintain control in the clinch like he did in all his other fights. He is outworking Colbertson in the hands though, catching him with some nice combinations, it looks as though Kevin's going to take the 1st round, until the very end of the round, there clinching up and Kevin breaks the clinch and starts throwing a jab cross, Colbertson does the same thing, and catches kevin with the cross milliseconds before kevin catches Colbertson. Right away Kevin knows that he lost that round because of the knockdown. It was hard to see him get dropped in the end of the 1st round. The second round starts and its looking alright, but Colbertson catches Kevin again and he goes down again and there was a miscommunication with the referee and the ref ended up stopping the fight even though Kevin was alright and wanted to continue, but the ref had to call the fight because of some miscommunication, so we were all crushed that Kevin lost. I wanted to console him more when we went to the warm up area, but I knew that I needed to focus on my title fight coming up, this would be the 3rd fight of the day for me and my 4th fight of the weekend. Im almost positive that its illegal to fight more than twice in one day in FL, but whatever.. lol.... So less than an hour after my 3rd fight im warming up for my title fight and kno im fighting someone whos taller than me and southpaw, so im working the gameplan. I dont know to much about the guy. Kevin gets himself together and starts to help me get ready for the fight, my body is broken down and wrecked and just about ready to fail on me. I keep telling myself, "just one more fight... my body needs to hold up for one more fight..". Soon enough im walking into the ring for my title fight and try to take it all in. The round starts and right away im trying to kick out his lead leg, he keeps his range, then opens up and lands stiff, long jabs and crosses on me. I start to feel a lil rocked right away and start throwing counter shots at him, but I keep fighting in his range, which is much longer than mine. That whole round im being tagged and covering up and answering back, but not answering back enough. The round ends with me getting an 8 count. I know i lost the round as im going back to my corner, there telling me to try and stay tight on him to crowd him to eliminate his range. The round starts off and he opens up on me right away, at this point im already gushing blood, have a cut under my eye, eyes closed from my 3rd fight and nose is busted. I just rush him and dip my head down a little bit and start throwing the most wild punches nonstop, I start catching him like crazy and chase him down across the ring and get him against my corner and start going nuts on him, im landing some nice shots, everyone in the audience who didn't kno me but knew I was the underdog start cheering like crazy for me. Then at one point he angles out and catches me with a clean jab cross and the ref jumps in. He decides to call the fight, he knew how many fights ive been through and knew that I was the only person in my division who had to fight 4 times. He decided to call it before I got really hurt, I was really upset, trying to hold back my tears, but I understood the refs call. I found out after the fight that the person I fought in the finals was Nathan Key, who right now is considered top in the world in his weight class and style in the amateur world. Me and Kevin ended up getting 2nd in the IKF World Classic. Even though I was upset that I lost, I was happy that I did so well. Me and Kevin came in there with no one really knowing who we were, and left with everyone being like "who the fuck are those guys?!". So thats good. This tournament easily makes me and Kevin like top 5 or so amateur kickboxers in the nation, so thats a huge accomplishment for me. Now im just letting my body recover and getting back to training the beginning of next week and once this ringworm heals up (I got it from some dirty shinguards that I got before on e of my fights.). I have a period now to focus mainly on my jiu jitsu, and still work my kickboxing once or twice a week. Also, the goal is to gain some size and get stronger. This summer has been an amazing one so far. Everyone that was up there with me, really helped me out and I love them all. JP, Pedro, Pineda, Kevin, Lopez and everyone else that was there to support me and help me get ready, much love to you all ^^!! Its pretty late, I should probably get some sleep, but I wanted to finish up this blog entry. Night night and thanks to whoever reads this long post hehe..

IKF World Classic Amateur Championships Day 1 and 2

Its been a week since I went up to Orlando for the IKF World Classic. I was mad nervous for this tournament, because I haven't had a kickboxing fight in over a year, I was suppostu fight in Orlando in May in a San Shou tournament. But I injured my shoulder in a fight 3 weeks prior. So for this tournament I was planning to fight in the 140 lb and under International style weight class. Unfortunately the division wasn't full enough so I decided to bump up to 150 lb and under International Style division. My brother entered 150 lb and under Muay Thai style weight class. The first night after I weighed in, and me and my bro are at the fighters banquet, it was intimidating to see the whole room filled with 300+ fighters for this tournament. Me and Kevin are just chillin eatting and scoping the area out a little. So we go back to our rooms and rest up before our fights in the morning. So in the morning me and Kevin are walking around going to the bathroom like every 10 minutes lol.. Were watching the point kickboxing portion of the tournament, some teammates of ours were competeing in it. That was pretty fun to watch, then the brackets of the tournament went up. Everyone was rushing over to see who they were fighting and when they were fighting. I personally don't like to see who im fighting or when im fighting myself, I have someone else find out for me so I know, it just adds more nervous energy to be crowding around the brackets all the time for me. So my bro was the 12th fight and I was the 27th. When my bro went up I and I was mad nervous for him, whenever he goes in there I feel like im about to fight, I know its the same for him to. So me, my coach and sensei JP (Jarett Perelmutter), and my friend and training partner Pedro were cornering Kevin for this fight. The fight starts off and Kevin is looking mad calm and picks this guy apart, he puts on a clinic in the first round. Second round comes around and its more of the same and at end of the second round he dropped the guy. It was a knockout, but the bell rang at the right moment and the guy was allowed to continue on to the 3rd round. We knew he was still hurt, so we just told him to jump on him at the beginning of the 3rd. So Kevin just rushes him in the beginning of the fight and knocks the guy out, it was a good win for us. The rest of the time I started to really focus and go over the gameplan for my fight coming up next. The closer it got to the fight I started to feel short of breath, thats how I kno im getting into that fight mode. For my fight my bro, JP, and Pedro are in my corner. The fight starts off and right away im catching the guy with stiff jabs and clean rights, the guys catching me as well, but nothing right on point. The second round comes around and I have a surge of confidence and go in there with more aggressiveness, im attempting ballsy moves like spinning backfists with my left and going into a straight right. Then in the third I almost finish the guy with a flurry, but it didnt happen and I ended up winning, it was a real meanigful win for me, first kickboxing win since I had cancer removed from my shoulder. Me and Kevin were suppostu fight again that day but it didn't happen due to delays and because it was just getting ridiculously late. Me and Kevin were up in 6 fights or so and it was close to 11pm already. It was more mentally draining than physically tiring. So they decide to continue and finish the event in the morning. It was a two-day event anyways but I was scheduled to fight twice on saturday and twice on sunday, I was the only person out of my 12 man bracket that had to fight 4 times to win the title, everyone else had to fight 3, when it comes to brackets I usually get the short end of the stick >8(. So I clean up and grab a bite to eat with JP, Kevin, and other friends. I started to feel really focused and pumped to win this whole tournament even though I knew I had a lot of fights ahead of me. I just kept telling my bro, "Man.. Tomorrows gonna be a crazy day..".

EEK D8!! Im in my computer class right now and I think were about to take an exam, ill continue this in a bit ladies and gents!!
